Marweta was born out of despair, from a customer like you. In recent years, the standards and ‘rituals’ of beauty have changed;  women are now influenced into bleaching their skin. Sadly, melanated skin is no longer considered beautiful. If you are brave enough to love your skin and go against this new norm, when it comes to skincare, you either use NOTHING or have to be lucky enough to get a relative/friend to bring supplies from abroad which means, your skincare needs are dependent on someone’s holiday plan. 

The year was 2003 when a young Somali (East African) girl first visited her hometown, Hargeisa Somaliland, where natural holistic beauty rituals were at the core of the Somali women’s skin care routine. From DIY masks of “Gob Tree” to  “Goat’s butter”, which gave their melanated skin an endless glow. Eight years later, she visited her motherland again, only to find out that the bleaching problem had gone worse. On top of that, she had her own struggles of finding products for her sensitive eczema-prone skin. As a result, this girl saw a gap, she saw a challenge many girls were facing and with her love for harmless beauty, the idea of Marweta came to be.

In 2017, Marweta was born; The first skincare hub in the region for skin-loving, bleach-free quality products. Not only that, we also advocate for gentle effective skincare habits. Learning your skin’s language, what it is trying to tell you and getting in harmony with your skin is what we are all about.

Having travelled the world, Marwa has perfected her technical expertise, she has developed a deep understanding for both the industry and business. She now only works with international companies to ensure that Marweta, delivers the world class customer experience closer to her clients in Somaliland.
